SCOUTING NEWS WORTH REPEATING

Elizabeth A. Chesshir began her Scouting adventure as a Den Leader  in 1990.  She also served as Webelos Leader and Cubmaster for Pack 420 over the next 12 years.   She agreed to serve on Troop 420’s committee in 1997 and still serves today.  Liz has served the Permian District Committee in the role of Trainer, Unit Commissioner and New-Unit Organizer and has assisted the Council with Cub Dad, Mom N Me, Cub Pow Wow, Wood Badge and College of Commissioner Science.  Liz has been recognized for her service by receiving the Den Leader Training Award, The District Committee Key, the District Award of Merit, and Wood Badge beads.

Major General Gerald Prather gives tremendous leadership to Scouting in the Amistad District of our Council.  He is an Eagle Scout and has served in many Scouting positions in other Councils.   General Prather was Amistad District Chairman from 1987-1989 and was been a member of the Board of Directors of the Concho Valley Council. He has served in many positions including Committee Chairman for Pack 202 in Del Rio, as a Friends of Scouting enroller and on the District Committee.  He currently serves as the Amistad District Advancement Chairman.

 

Eagle Scout James D. Lay has made a great influence in the Scouting movement of our Council for many years. As a Boy Scout in Troop 11, Jim earned the Medal of Merit. Jim has been a Cub Scout Den Leader for Pack 12 , Webelos Leader, and has served on the committee for Pack 20. Jim served as Assistant Scoutmaster and has been Scoutmaster for Troop 20 for 14 years.   Jim has served the Amangi Trail District well in the role of District Committee Member and Roundtable Commissioner.  He has also served as Assistant Lodge Advisor for the Council’s Order of the Arrow Lodge 199.  His past recognitions include the Cub Scouter Award, Webelos Den Leader Award, District Committee Key, Scoutmaster Key as well as the District Award of Merit.  James is a Vigil Honor Member and has earned his Wood Badge Beads.

Audrey L. Truelove began Scouting as a teen she joined a High Adventure Explorer Post.  She has been a Tiger Den Coordinator, Webelos Den Leader,Cubmaster of Pack 349, Assistant Scoutmaster and later Scoutmaster of Troop 7.  She has served on many Council event staffs including; Train the Trainer, Pow Wow, Mom N Me, Cub Dad and Cub Adventure Camp.  She has been the Council Tiger Cub Commissioner, Roundtable Commissioner, Unit Commissioner and a Philmont Trek Advisor.  Audrey has been recognized with the Den Leader, Cub Scouter and Scouter’s Training Award.  She has completed both Cub Scout and Boy Scout Wood Badge.  She is active in the Order of the Arrow.

Michael J. Lukowiak, from 1990 to 1997, served as Den Leader, Webelos Leader, Cubmaster and Committee Chairman.  He served on Troop 36’s committee.  Mike has been active with the Amangi Trail District since 1995 including; Pow Wow and Roundtable Staff, Training Committee Coordinator.
He has served the Council on Cub Dad and Mom N Me Staffs  and has assisted with Youth Fair.  Mike is Wood Badge trained, was recognized as Cubmaster of the year  and has received the Den Leader, Den Leader Coach, Cubmaster, Cub Scouter and Webelos Den Leader Training Awards and  the District Award of Merit.
