2007
Philmont Contingent
Towering
peaks—throw down a mighty challenge that means rugged
adventure in the tradition of the mountain man! You
will backpack for twelve days into the beautiful Sangre
de Christo Mountains and survive with your outdoor skills.
It means doing more, going farther, and pushing yourself
to extremes. It’s a chance to discover yourself on this
137,000 acre Scouting Paradise.
Philmont
is a twelve day hiking experience to remember. Our Council
Contingent is from July 17th - July 28th, 2007. The
fee is $ 650. This covers Philmont fees, meals, crew
equipment, pre-Philmont training, shirt, and transportation.
Our adventure begins early on July 16th in San Angelo
and after a day on the road we arrive in Springer, NM
and the next morning finish our trip to Philmont Scout
Ranch on July 17th. We will depart from Philmont on
July 29th to head for home, arriving in San Angelo late
on July 29th.
Registered
Scouts must be at least 14 by January 1, 2007, or have
completed eighth grade and be at least 13 prior to participation.
Scouts and Scouters must meet Philmont height and weight
requirements. Participation in the pre-Philmont training
and submission of a high adventure medical form is required.
Venturers are encouraged to participate.
If
you are interested in going to Philmont in 2007, we
have four openings for youth members. You can download
an application from the council website: www.cvcbsa.org
or stop by the council office and pick one up. For more
