High Ad-VENTURING Get-a-Way-Summer 2008-Camp Sol Mayer
The Get-a-Way is limited to 50 Venturers and Advisors. We will have activities such as canoeing, kayaking, scuba diving, snorkeling, astronomy, black powder, shotgun, rifle, pistol, horseback, climbing, rappelling, games, golf, Frisbee golf, leadership classes and more. It will be a fun weekend with lots of things to try and do. Plans include an overnight horse back and / or canoe trip. Check in will begin at 12:00 noon on Sunday June 29th and with a leaders meeting at 1:30 pm. We will conclude no sooner
than 5 pm on Wednesday, July 2nd. Crews must provide appropriate adult leadership according to the Guide to Safe Scouting. This week will be held at Camp Sol Mayer.
FEE INCLUDES: Nine Meals; Discover Scuba Training Costs; Program Materials essential to the Program; Custom High Ad-Venturing Camp Patch. YOU PROVIDE: Personal Gear; Spending Money. This "Get-a-Way" is designed to serve Venturing Crews in the Concho Valley Council and surrounding Councils. PAYMENT SCHEDULE: Youth Registration Fee (Due May 30th) $125 per person* ; Adult Registration Fee (Due May 30th) $50 per person.

Azure blue water, tropical breezes, and breath taking sunsets. Spend the day under sail and anchor at night in secluded harbors. WHAT WILL YOU DO AT SEA BASE
|

During your week's adventure, home will be one of the 40+ foot sailing vessels that call Sea Base port. After the first day you will be sailing from key to key exploring along the way. Nights will be spent on the boat under the stars. Midway through the trip we will make port in Key West to take in the sites. The southern most city in the U.S. has an aquarium, pirate museum and plenty of shops with local flavor. The
return trip provides opportunities to hone your fishing skill and get in some more snorkeling. Upon our return to Sea Base we will have an evening luau and patch presentation, so you better practice your limbo.
You will: Visit historic Key West, Become skilled at sailing Sharpen your navigational skills, Troll for hard fighting game fish, Snorkel in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary
Get incredible views of the stars, Identify fish you catch
Study coral reef ecology, Hunt for spiny lobster, Make memories that will last a lifetime, & Probably get a little sunburned.
