Concho Valley Council Recognizes Contributions in Honor of Scouting Benefactors
The Boy Scouts of America's Concho Valley Council recently awarded the San Angelo Rotary Club a 1910 Society membership in acknowledgment of a $38,500 donation.
The 1910 Society, established in honor of the founding of the Boy Scouts of America in 1910, recognizes donors who make gifts of $25,000 or more to their council endowments. As the charter organization for Troop 9, the San Angelo Rotary Club donated all proceeds received from the sale of a former scout meeting hut.
The entirety of this gift went to the Concho Valley Council Endowment Fund. The Concho Valley Council Executive Board designated $25,000 of the donation to the establishment of the Willig-Cralle Scout Assistance Fund. Named in honor of the late Billy Willig and Stratton Cralle, both were active Rotarians and Scouters for decades. The fund will assist Scouts and their families with various scouting fees such as registration, camp, uniforms and handbooks.
"This new assistance fund is a tremendous contribution to the Concho Valley community of scouting," said Patrick Wedding, Scout Executive of the Concho Valley Council. "We're privileged to have such a generous fund established in honor of two men who dedicated so much energy and goodwill to the scouting organization."
