2007 Summertime Pack Award
Just a reminder: Any packs who completed the requirements for the Summertime Pack Award should sent Application into the council office to ensure that your pack is given credit for a job well done. If you have any questions, please contact the council office and someone will be happy to assist you.

A pack can qualify for the National Summertime Pack Award by planning and conducting three pack activities - one each in June, July, and August. This award can be an incentive for greater attendance at your summer pack activities. Individual scouts that participate in all three-pack events can receive the National Summertime Pack Award pin. If your pack missed the opportunity to participate in this years' Summertime Pack Award, it's never too early to start planning for next summer!! Congrats to all those Packs who participated.

Why a Tour Permit is Important

  1. A permit registers the activity as an official Scouting activity. BSA insurance coverage only applies to official Scouting activities.
  2. The permit reinforces leader requirements, especially in regards to Youth Protection.
  3. The permit reinforces driver and insurance requirements. Packs and troops should make sure that all drivers are licensed and carry insurance before transporting any Scouts.
  4. The permit provides the Council office with information regarding unit outings and trips.

Remember that a Local Tour Permit is used for trips of less than 500 miles. Please make sure all signatures have been included before mailing or faxing the permit to the Council office. Allow at least 3 to 4 days notice. Do not fax a permit the day before an event. All Packs and Troops should have the latest copy of the "Guide to Safe Scouting" in their possession for all trips and activities. Please follow those guidelines.

For trips over 500 miles or more, a National Tour Permit is required. This permit is approved by the Region office in Georgia. You must allow one month time period to get approval. These forms are available from the Council website (www.cvcbsa.org) under "Form" and "National".
