Commissioner's Corner

Dear Scouter,

Program Planning and budgeting is so important in having a Quality Program but more importantly, communication with Parents is critical. The best plans, if not communicated, can become worthless.

In the Program Preview Packets, there are 4 steps to planning your units program. Follow these four steps and make sure all parents are aware of what your Pack, Troop, or Crew is doing for the next calendar year. Program Planning is a time saver for the long run.

Contact Your Unit Commissioner, District Commissioner, or council office for assistance in completing your Program Plan and Budget. Your District Commissioners are: Tim L. Vasquez (Amangi), John Fluth (Permian Basin), & Gary Burt (Amistad).

Daniel Anderson,

Your Council Commissioner

This years Report to State was a fun and memorable event. Those who attended enjoyed the march down Congress Avenue in Austin, Texas that ended at the State's Capitol. Although the weather was a bit chilly, our participants cheered and smiled as our Council was announced during the march while showing scout spirit. For some of us this was our first experience with the event but most definitely not our last. As we entered the State Capitol the site of the high ceilings and gracious details of the building kept our eyes busy as we waited to greet the Governor of Texas.

Later we were honored to have our Council group picture taken with Governor Rick Perry who greeted us with a handshake and a smile. Trey Justice, with Troop 283 out of Utopia, Texas gave this years Report to Governor Rick Perry and others interested in the progress and accomplishments of Scouting throughout the Concho Valley Council in 2007. I would like to say Thank you to all who participated and showed up to represent the Concho Valley Council and their Units. Your scout spirit and dedication to Scouting are most appreciated. If you would like to attend next years Report to State, you may contact Roberta Tanguma, at my email address
