BARBARA BUSH BEHRENS 

Barbara Bush Behrens has been  active in the Boy Scouts of America  in Eldorado since 1987.  She has  been a Den Leader, Cubmaster,  Committee Chairman for  Troop and  Pack 18 in Eldorado.  She holds the  Den Leader Training Award, the  Cubmaster Key and the District  Award of Merit. She has also been active with the Girl Scouts serving as  Service Unit Director, Troop Leader, Assistant Troop Leader, and Cookie  Chairman.  Barbara has chaired the Friends of Scouting Campaign in Eldorado and has served as a trainer on the District committee.    Barbara is active in her church and community.  She serves as church  clerk, & secretary, Chairman of the  nominating ministry team, and  member of the Executive Board of  the Concho Valley Baptist  Association.  She was instrumental  in starting the PTA in Schleicher  county and serves as Association  Chairman.

 


GARY BURT 

 Gary Burt has served as Cubmaster  and Committee Chairman of Pack 28  and Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop  28 in Falfurrias and Assistant  Scoutmaster of Troop 81 in Uvalde.  Gary has served as District  Commissioner for the Winter Garden District and is now the District Chairman.

Gary has served as a  member of the Concho Valley  Council Executive Board for 3 years.   He has been active on the council properties committee and has given active leadership to the maintenance and upkeep of Camp Fawcett.  He received the District Award of Merit in 1997.

Gary is active in his church. He is a volunteer to the Special Olympics and is President of the Uvalde Rotary Club.Gary is an exceptional volunteer.  His unselfish devotion to the welfare of others reflect great credit on himself, his community and the Boy Scouts of America.  He now serves in the role of Troop Leader, District Leader, Council Board Leader, Property leader and FOS Chairman.

JIMMY E. (BUTCH) SIMPSON

Butch Simpson has served as Cubmaster, Webelos Den leader, Den Leader, Committee Chairman for Pack 22 in San Angelo for 6 years; Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 374 in  San Angelo for 2 years; Scoutmaster for Troop 22; Unit Commissioner ; member of the  training team; Chairman of the Camp Baden-Powell Properties Committee.  Butch  served as council Jamboree Scoutmaster in 1997.  He is active in the OA and has completed Woodbadge Training.

He has been awarded the Den Leader Training Award, Webelos Leader Training  Award, Cubmaster Key, Scoutmaster Key,  Woodbadge Beads, Vigil member of the  Order of the Arrow and the District Award of  Merit.

Butch is active in his church, St. Mark's  Presbyterian Church in San Angelo.  He  serves on the Youth Task Force and is a  member of the Grounds Committee. He is a  volunteer with the Firefighters Association and a member of the Fire Department Rescue  Team.

VETERAN SCOUTERS RECOGNIZED 

The council had recognized several volunteer Scouters who have given many years of service to Scouting.  The recognition comes from the National Council by an application submitted by the individual at intervals of 5 years of service.  Those recognized are Dee Keilers, Ozona and Jonathan Miller, Del Rio for 20 Years; Armando de Leon, Del Rio,Victor Meza, Del Rio, Del Rio, Ralph Cook, San Angelo, Jim Nennich, San Angelo for 25 years; Weldon Blackard,  Carrizo Springs, Roy Douglass, Tom Fisher, Bill Ruth, San Angelo for 30 years, Gov Dolph Briscoe, Uvalde, 35 years; Jean F. Williams, Brady, 45 years; Fred McCleery and James Young, San Angelo 50 years; Robert Routt, J. B. Ward, San Angelo 55 years; Ted Hogan, Crane, Earl Wisdom, San Angelo 60 years; Doyle Maddux, Uvalde, Phillip Robbins, Fort Stockton, 70 years.
