COUNCIL EARNS QUALITY
COUNCIL RECOGNITION

Just as units may earn the Quality Unit Award and the District the Quality District Award, The council may qualify for meeting certain criteria.  The Council qualified for 1999 by increasing membership, units, volunteers, paying its bills and by having a majority of its units earn the Quality Unit Award.  The Concho Valley Council was one of four council which qualified in the 10 council Area One, Southern Region.

Congratulations to all the leadership in the council.

Friends Of Scouting
Makes The Difference!

The 2000 Friends of Scouting Campaign is underway, with Community Campaigns, and Presentations being made to Scouting Units all over the Concho Valley Council. The Friends Of Scouting or F.O.S. Campaign is our Council's effort to raise sufficient funds to provide a high-quality experience for the Youth of our Council. The programs such as Summer Camp, Cub-Dad, Mom and Me, Camporees, District Fun Days, and services like Adult Leader Training, School Night Rallies, Advancement, property management, reservations and record keeping wouldn't be possible without the financial support of our friends. In 2000 we are operating with a $600,000 budget for our 24 county council, these funds come from a variety of sources including the United Ways, the portion of this budget we must raise in the communities is $173,000. Our thanks go out to the volunteers who assist in this effort and to our "Friends" who believe in the Character Building Programs of the Boy Scouts Of America. Your financial backing ensures that Scouting in the Concho Valley Council will remain strong for generations of boys to come.
