Silver Beaver Recipients Honored

The Concho Valley Council of Boy Scouts of America, recognized 4 Leaders with the highest award a Council may confer upon it’s volunteers. The Silver Beaver was presented to Joe Hoelle, Johnny M. Stone, Danny Williams, and Dr. Stanley K. Taylor for their involvement in the development of the youth of our community.

Eagle Scout Joe R. Hoelle is a tireless supporter of Scouting. His record of service includes leadership positions as Cubmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster, and since 1989 he has served diligently as a member of the Concho Valley Council Executive Board. Joe assumed the position of Council Treasurer in 1990 and currently serves as 2nd Vice-President. He has given leadership to the Executive Board and is actively involved with all Board projects including Investment Committee, Council Auction, Strategic Planning, and Nominating Committees.

Johnny M. Stone has served Scouting as an adult leader for 25 years. He has served in many capacities including, Den Leader, Cubmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, and Scoutmaster. He holds training awards for the Scoutmaster’s Key, the Scoutmaster’s Training Award, and the Wood Badge.. As Scoutmaster for the past 15 years, Johnny’s efforts and devotion to Scouting have provided the boys in his Troop and District with a quality program.

Danny Williams has had a great influence on Scouting in the Concho Valley Council.  He has served as a Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, Troop Committee Member, and Merit Badge Counselor and has served as the Amistad District Chairman for the past five years. Throughout his association with Scouting he has made a significant impact. In guiding the Amistad District Danny has given tireless leadership to the District Committee and has spearheaded the projects of the Committee.

Dr. Stanley K. Taylor began his association with Scouting as a Cub Scout in 1938 in El Paso, Texas. Throughout the 50’s, 60’s 70’s and 80’s he served Scouting in a variety of positions on Pack and Troop Committees. Arriving in San Angelo in 1981, he became a Scoutmaster from 1981-1982. He served the Concho Valley Council as Health & Safety Officer from 1983-1991 and served again as Scoutmaster in Aspermont, Texas, while working as the only Physician in that town. Most Scouts know Dr. Taylor as the Camp Doctor, a position he has held for the past 15 years.
